What the iPad 4th Gen Retina 16GB delivers

This 9.7-inch tablet runs on the Apple A6X processor at 1.40GHz and provides 16GB of internal storage. It suits users who need a compact iOS device for web browsing, email, media playback and light productivity tasks while connected to Wi-Fi 9 networks.

Accessories and software impact

The unit ships with a charger and cable so it can be powered immediately without sourcing separate items. The restored iOS installation is ready to use, letting you sign in with an Apple ID and download apps from the App Store without additional setup steps.

Practical limits of the Wi-Fi 9 interface

Wireless performance depends on router capability, signal distance and local interference, so real-world throughput will vary from the theoretical maximum. The 16GB storage cannot be expanded, which restricts the number of apps, photos and offline media files you can keep on the device.

Questions about this item

How often will the 16 GB storage need clearing to keep the iPad running smoothly?

With only 16 GB of space, you will likely need to offload photos, apps or documents every few weeks if you install many apps or record video.

What is the first limit reached when the A6X processor runs at 1.40 GHz for long periods?

The chip will throttle its speed once the aluminium chassis reaches its thermal ceiling, so sustained heavy tasks slow down before the battery is drained.

Does the 9.7 inch Retina display area get hot or make noise during all-day use?

The screen itself stays silent and only warm to the touch; any heat you feel comes from the A6X chip behind it, not from the panel.
