Ninth-generation iPad for everyday use

The 9.7-inch Retina display delivers 2048 x 1536 resolution at 264 ppi. An Apple A10 Fusion chip with M10 coprocessor powers iOS on 2GB memory and 32GB storage. Bluetooth 4.2 and 802.11ac Wi-Fi handle wireless connectivity. A 1.2MP front and 8MP rear camera support 1080p video recording.

Setup and common issues

The tablet arrives new with a Lightning cable and AC adapter included. No USB ports are present, so wired peripherals require adapters. Apple Pencil support is limited to the first-generation model, which pairs and charges through the Lightning port. Touch ID handles authentication without a separate setup step.

Capacity and limits

The 32GB internal drive holds the operating system, apps and a moderate media library; heavy offline video or large game collections will fill it quickly. 2GB memory keeps a few apps active but reloads background tasks under multitasking pressure. The A10 Fusion manages 1080p playback and light creative work, while sustained high-frame-rate 3D titles may throttle.

Questions about this item

How can I verify the 9.7" Retina display is performing correctly after initial setup?

Open Settings, tap Display & Brightness, and confirm the resolution reads 2048 x 1536 at 264 ppi; the screen should show crisp text and accurate colour across the full 9.7-inch panel.

Which accessories are included in the box and which must be purchased separately?

The box contains the iPad with 32 GB storage, a Lightning cable and a USB power adapter; an Apple Pencil (1st generation) and a Smart Keyboard are sold separately.

Should I choose the 32 GB Wi-Fi model or a higher-capacity version for typical daily use?

The 32 GB Wi-Fi model suits web browsing, streaming and light apps; if you plan to store many photos, videos or large offline files, select a larger capacity instead.
