9.7″ Retina iPad for everyday use

This 2018 iPad ships new with a 9.7″ Retina display and Apple Pencil support. The A10 Fusion chip and M10 coprocessor run iOS 11 and handle augmented-reality apps. It suits students, casual users and anyone needing a lightweight tablet for media and light productivity.

32 GB storage and 2 GB memory headroom

The 32 GB built-in storage holds apps, documents and offline media for typical daily workflows. Heavy offline libraries or large creative projects will fill the space quickly. The 2 GB memory keeps a few apps active but limits multitasking with demanding titles.

Passive thermals and 802.11ac Wi-Fi

The fanless design stays silent during normal browsing, video playback and AR sessions. Bluetooth 4.2 connects keyboards, headphones and the Apple Pencil without cables. The Lightning connector charges the tablet from the included adapter.

Questions about this item

Will the 802.11ac Wi-Fi on this 2018 iPad work reliably with my older 802.11n router at home?

Yes, the 802.11ac radio is backward compatible with 802.11n networks, so it will connect to your existing router at the router's maximum supported speed.

How can I verify the Retina display and A10 Fusion chip are performing correctly after I set up the iPad?

Open Settings > General > About to confirm the model shows a 9.7‑inch 2048 x 1536 screen and the A10 Fusion processor, then launch an AR‑enabled app to test the M10 coprocessor and motion sensors.

The box lists only the tablet and charger — do I need to buy a Lightning cable and Apple Pencil separately?

The included charger has a USB‑A port, so a Lightning‑to‑USB‑A cable is required and not in the box; the Apple Pencil (1st generation) is also sold separately.
