iPad Air 2 A1566 16GB Gold

The Apple iPad Air 2 model A1566 is a 9.7-inch tablet with 16GB of built-in storage and 2GB of memory. It ships new in a gold finish and runs iOS with iPadOS 15.4 installed. The device weighs 1.5 units and includes a UL approved power adapter and charging cable.

Suits light daily use, not heavy workloads

This tablet suits users who need a portable device for web browsing, email, and media streaming on a 9.7-inch Retina display with anti-reflective coating. It is not for buyers who require more than 16GB of storage for large app libraries or offline media. It is also not for workflows that demand more than 2GB of memory for intensive multitasking.

16GB fixed storage decides fit

The single specification that decides whether this is the right part is the 16GB built-in storage capacity, which cannot be expanded. The A8X chip with 64-bit architecture and M8 motion coprocessor delivers 40% faster CPU and 2.5 times graphics performance over the previous model. Connectivity includes 802.11 Wi-Fi with MIMO and Bluetooth 4.0.

Questions about this item

Does the 9.7 inch Retina display need a specific mount or stand size?

The tablet measures 0.24 inches thick and weighs 0.96 lb so most universal tablet stands and VESA adapters rated for 9.7 inch devices will hold it securely.

What is the common mistake when setting up iPadOS 15.4 on the A8X chip?

Skipping the Apple ID sign-in during the initial wizard leaves Find My disabled and prevents later iCloud backup or App Store downloads.

When will the 16 GB SSD and 2 GB memory need replacement?

The soldered storage and memory are not user-replaceable; only the battery can be serviced when its runtime falls significantly below the original specification.
