Questions about this item

Does the tablet need a separate SIM card to use its cellular capability?

Yes, the unit is sold unlocked without a SIM card, so you must provide your own nano-SIM from a carrier to activate mobile data.

Will my first-generation Apple Pencil pair and charge with this iPad Air 5?

No, only the second-generation Apple Pencil magnetically attaches, pairs wirelessly and charges from the side of this model.

How can I confirm the M1 chip is running at full performance after setup?

Open Settings, tap General then About, and verify the processor is listed as Apple M1; then launch a demanding app such as a 3-D game or video editor and check for smooth, stutter-free operation.
