Compact 7.9in Retina tablet for mobile creators

The Apple iPad mini 5th Gen 64GB Wi-Fi Space Gray packs a 7.9 inch Retina display and an A12 Bionic chip with Neural Engine into a chassis only .24 inches thick and weighing .66 pounds. It targets readers, students and creatives who want desktop-class speed in a one-hand form factor. Sixty-four gigabytes of built-in storage holds apps, media and documents for offline work.

Check Wi-Fi-only connectivity and accessory fit

This model connects solely via Wi-Fi, so cellular data is unavailable without a hotspot. Verify that any keyboard, stylus or hub you plan to use supports the Lightning port and the 7.9 inch footprint. The existing mini 4 chassis means most legacy cases fit, but camera cut-outs differ on the newer unit.

Passive cooling keeps fanless operation silent

The A12 Bionic runs without a fan, so the tablet stays completely silent during browsing, video playback and light creative tasks. The aluminium unibody acts as a heatsink, spreading warmth evenly across the back. Under sustained load the enclosure becomes warm to the touch but never throttles aggressively in normal indoor temperatures.
