What this iPad Pro is

The Apple iPad Pro 12.9" (2nd Gen) A1670 is a 64 GB Wi-Fi tablet running iOS with a 12.9-inch Liquid Retina touchscreen at 2732×2048 resolution. It uses the A10X Fusion chip at 2.3 GHz with 4 GB memory and a 12-core GPU. The display reaches 600 cd/m² brightness, 120 Hz refresh rate, 264 ppi, P3 colour gamut and 1.8 % reflectivity with 20 ms latency.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This tablet fits users who want a large high-resolution screen for media, creative work or productivity on iPadOS 15.4 with desktop-class CPU and console-class graphics performance. Buyers who need cellular connectivity, more than 64 GB of built-in storage, a newer processor generation or accessories such as headphones and a SIM card should consider other options.

Behaviour under sustained load

The A10X Fusion six-core chip with M10 motion coprocessor delivers desktop-class CPU performance and console-class graphics that remain consistent during extended sessions. The 120 Hz display and 20 ms latency keep interaction smooth while the anti-reflective coating maintains visibility. Thermal design supports prolonged multitasking and high-resolution video playback without throttling the 12-core GPU.

Questions about this item

Which iPadOS version does the A1670 ship with so I can check app compatibility?

The tablet runs iPadOS 15.4 out of the box, giving you access to the App Store and current iPadOS features on the A10X Fusion chip.

Will my first-generation Apple Pencil pair and charge with the 12.9-inch Liquid Retina display on this model?

The second-generation iPad Pro uses the newer magnetic charging method, so the original Apple Pencil is not supported for pairing or charging on this display.

How can I verify the 120 Hz ProMotion refresh rate is active after setup?

Open Settings, choose Accessibility, tap Motion and confirm Limit Frame Rate is off; the 12.9-inch screen will then run at the full 120 Hz rate.
