Identity and audience

The Apple iPhone 6s Plus A1687 is a fully unlocked smartphone with 32 GB of storage in Space Gray. It runs iOS 15.4 on a 1.84 GHz Apple A9 processor and features a 5.5 inch touch screen. The 12 MP rear camera includes a sapphire crystal lens cover, PDAF and a BSI sensor for 4K video and 63 MP panoramic photos. A 3.5 mm headphone jack and 3D Touch complete the feature set for users who want a classic iPhone experience.

Suitability and alternatives

This device suits buyers who need an unlocked handset with a headphone jack, 3D Touch and a familiar home-button design. It is not for buyers who want more storage than 32 GB, who require a larger or higher-resolution display, who need modern biometric authentication such as Face ID, or who depend on 5G connectivity and the latest iOS updates.

Deciding specification

The 32 GB storage capacity is the single specification that decides whether this is the right part; users with large media libraries or many apps should verify that this amount meets their needs before purchase.

Questions about this item

Does the 5.5-inch display fit a standard iPhone 6s Plus case?

The 5.5-inch touch screen matches the original iPhone 6s Plus dimensions, so any case made for that model will fit.

How do I insert the SIM card correctly on the A1687 model?

Use the eject tool on the right-edge tray; the nano-SIM sits contacts-down with the angled corner toward the phone interior.

Will the 12-megapixel camera lens need a protector over the sapphire crystal cover?

The sapphire crystal lens cover resists scratches, but a tempered-glass protector adds drop protection without affecting 4K video or 63MP panoramas.
