iPad 9.7-inch Smart Cover

The Apple Smart Cover is a protective front cover designed for the 9.7-inch iPad. It uses a magnetic hinge to attach securely and align automatically with the device. The cover is constructed from a single piece of durable polyurethane in a Pink Sand finish. It protects the display while adding minimal bulk.

For iPad owners wanting front protection and a stand

This cover suits users who want to protect the screen and prop the iPad up for reading, typing, or watching videos. The magnetic hinge wakes the iPad when opened and puts it to sleep when closed. It does not protect the back or edges of the tablet. Buyers needing full-body enclosure or a keyboard should look at other options.

Magnetic hinge compatibility with 9.7-inch iPad

The magnetic hinge is engineered specifically for the 9.7-inch iPad model to ensure proper alignment and the automatic wake and sleep function. This precise fit is the specification that determines whether the cover will work correctly with your device. Verify your iPad screen size before purchasing.

Questions about this item

Does the Smart Cover add noticeable heat or power draw when left on the iPad all day?

The cover is a passive polyurethane shell with a magnetic hinge; it has no electronics, so it generates no heat and draws no power from the iPad.

Which iPad models does the Pink Sand MQ4Q2ZM/A cover fit without needing any extra parts?

It is made for the 9.7-inch iPad and attaches directly through the built-in magnetic hinge, so no separate brackets or adhesives are required.

Will the magnetic hinge still align correctly if I keep using an older 9.7-inch iPad that has the same edge magnets?

Yes, the cover uses the same magnetic hinge design Apple has used on 9.7-inch models, so it snaps on and wakes or sleeps the device as expected.
