Hazardous-location sealing fitting

This 1-1/4 inch conduit fitting stops gases, vapours and flames from travelling between sections of a hazardous-area raceway system. It is rated for Class I Division 1 and 2 Groups B, C, D, Class II Division 1 and 2 Groups E, F, G and Class III environments. The Grayloy iron body provides the mechanical strength required in those locations. Installers use it where code demands a positive seal in both vertical and horizontal runs.

25 percent fill limit and thread constraints

The fitting accepts a maximum conductor fill of 25 percent, so cable counts must stay within that limit. Each end is a 1-1/4 inch tapered pipe thread, one female and one male, which fixes the connection orientation during assembly. Overall length is 5-1/16 inches, leaving a set distance between the connected conduit bodies. Only IMC or RMC conduit of the same trade size is compatible with this fitting.

Replaces open couplings in sealed systems

It replaces standard couplings or unions wherever a fire-rated barrier is mandatory, such as at boundaries between classified and non-classified zones. The upgrade is justified when the installation must prevent flame propagation through the conduit network. It is not suited for runs that require larger trade sizes, higher fill percentages or non-threaded connection methods.
