Product identity

The Appleton Century Crofts ELBY-75 is a 90 degree threaded iron elbow conduit fitting finished in plain gray. It is designed for electricians and installers routing IMC or threaded rigid metal conduit in hazardous-location environments.

Upgrade path

This fitting replaces a straight coupling or a non-hazardous-rated elbow when a 90 degree change of direction is required in Class I, II or III classified areas. The jump is worth it when the installation demands chromate, powder and electroplated coatings for corrosion resistance and code-compliant hazardous-location sealing.

Compatibility check

Verify that the existing conduit run uses 3/4 inch trade size IMC or threaded rigid metal conduit with female NPT threads. Confirm the hazardous-location classification matches Class 1 Group B, Class I Groups C and D, Class II Groups E, F, G or Class III requirements before ordering.

Questions about this item

What conduit trade size does the 3/4 in FNPT elbow connect to?

It connects to 3/4 in trade size IMC or threaded RMC conduit via its female NPT ends.

How is the 90-degree elbow threaded onto the conduit?

Screw each FNPT end onto the conduit threads by hand, then tighten with a strap wrench; the step often missed is applying thread sealant rated for hazardous locations.

When should the chromate and powder-coated iron elbow be inspected or replaced?

Inspect the finish annually for corrosion or coating damage; replace the fitting if the chromate or powder coating is breached in a Class 1, Group B environment.
