Connects 2-1/2 in and 3 in threaded conduit with hazardous-location rating in aluminum
The Appleton Century Crofts reducing bushing connects 3 inch and 2-1/2 inch threaded IMC conduit in hazardous locations. It provides a female-to-male transition with hazardous location ratings for Class I, II and III divisions. Electrical contractors working in classified areas use this fitting to join different conduit trade sizes safely.
The bushing threads directly onto 3 inch male conduit and accepts 2-1/2 inch female conduit ends. Installation requires standard conduit threading tools and proper thread engagement for hazardous location compliance. Common issues include insufficient thread depth or cross-threading aluminum surfaces during assembly.
Verify your conduit system uses IMC or threaded RMC types rated for the same hazardous location classes. Confirm the 3 inch and 2-1/2 inch trade sizes match your existing conduit runs. Ensure the Class I, Division 1 and 2, Groups B, C, D and Class II, Division 1 and 2, Groups E, F, G ratings align with your area classification.
