Reduces conduit from 1-1/2 in to 1 in with steel hazardous-location fitting rated for Class I, II and III divisions
This Appleton Century Crofts reducing bushing connects 1-1/2 inch and 1 inch threaded rigid metal conduit or IMC in hazardous areas. It is rated for Class I Division 1 and 2, Class II Division 1 and 2, and Class III environments. The steel body carries an electroplated silver finish. Electricians working in classified zones use it to step down conduit sizes safely.
The fitting is a passive steel component with no moving parts, so it generates no heat and draws no power during operation. Its electroplated surface resists corrosion in damp or chemical atmospheres. Noise is not a factor because the bushing contains no fan or electrical circuit. It simply maintains a secure, grounded conduit path.
Under continuous service the steel body and threaded joints retain their mechanical integrity and grounding continuity. The hazardous-location ratings remain valid as long as the installation follows the applicable code. No thermal cycling or vibration loosens the NPT threads when they are properly tightened. The fitting does not degrade with time in its rated environment.

Thread the 1 in FNPT end into the 1-1/2 in MNPT conduit until the electroplated steel shoulder seats fully; the missed step is applying hazardous-location thread compound to maintain the Class I Division 1 seal.
Inspect the electroplated finish annually for corrosion; replace the bushing if the 15/16 in body shows pitting or the threads no longer hold the hazardous-location rating.
The 0.31 lb steel body reaches thermal equilibrium quickly, so the electroplated finish temperature limit is the first constraint under sustained hazardous-location duty.
