HazLoc Female Union 1/2 in

This Appleton Century Crofts conduit fitting joins two sections of 1/2 in rigid conduit in hazardous locations. The aluminum body carries Class I Division 1 and 2, Groups A through D, Class II Division 1 and 2, Groups E through G, and Class III ratings. Female NPT threads on both ends accept standard conduit nipples or fittings. The plain finish resists corrosion in demanding industrial environments.

Replaces Damaged or Mismatched Hazardous Fittings

Install this union when an existing hazardous-location coupling is cracked, corroded or has the wrong thread gender for the conduit run. The jump is worth it whenever a conduit system must maintain its explosion-proof integrity across a junction in areas where flammable gases, vapours or combustible dusts are present. It is not for buyers who need a larger trade size, a male-threaded end or a fitting rated for non-hazardous locations only.

1/2 in Trade Size Headroom

The 1 1/2 in overall length and 1 15/32 in profile fit tight enclosures while preserving the required thread engagement for hazardous-area compliance. Aluminum construction keeps weight low for overhead runs without sacrificing the mechanical strength demanded by Division 1 service. The fitting runs out of capacity when the conduit system steps up to 3/4 in or larger trade sizes, or when the installation calls for a reducing union between dissimilar conduit diameters.

Questions about this item

What conduit size does the 1/2 in female union accept?

The fitting connects two pieces of 1/2 in rigid conduit, either vertical or horizontal runs, using 1/2 in FNPT threads on both ends.

How do you install the union without damaging the threads?

Start both conduit ends by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with a strap wrench on the 1 15/32 in flats until the joint is snug and the hazardous-location seal is intact.

When should the aluminum union be inspected or replaced?

Inspect the 1 1/2 in body and threads during routine conduit-system checks; replace the fitting if corrosion, thread galling or physical damage compromises the Class I Division 1 rating.
