A 2-inch hazardous-location conduit union connects rigid conduit to a box with chromate-coated iron construction
This Appleton Century Crofts UNY200NR connects 2-inch rigid conduit to a box using a straight male-to-female union. The malleable iron body carries a chromate, powder and electroplated finish. It is rated for Class I Division 1 and 2 Groups A through D, Class II Division 1 and 2 Groups E, F, G and Class III hazardous locations.
Standard conduit unions lack the hazardous-location ratings required where flammable gases, vapours, dusts or fibres are present. The jump is worth it when the installation must meet Class I, Class II or Class III Division requirements and the conduit run uses 2-inch rigid metal conduit in vertical or horizontal orientation.
Confirm the existing conduit is 2-inch trade size rigid metal type before ordering. The fitting provides 2-inch FNPT by 2-inch MNPT ends, so both the box entry and the conduit coupling must match these thread specifications. Overall length is 3 5/8 inches; ensure adequate space within the enclosure.

The union measures 3 5/8 in long, so allow at least that much straight space between the rigid conduit end and the box entry for the fitting to sit flush without binding.
Thread the male NPT end into the box or female hub first, then spin the female NPT end onto the rigid conduit; reversing the order often cross-threads the male fitting.
Inspect the coating at each scheduled conduit-system audit — typically annually — and replace the union if any bare iron or flaking is visible, because the hazardous-location rating depends on intact corrosion protection.
