Will this heater work in a Friedrich unit that currently uses a different wattage heating element?

This is a 2.5 kW VPK type heater designed as a direct replacement for the same part number; using it in a unit specified for a different wattage could cause electrical or thermal mismatch and is not recommended.

After installing the 80017090 heater, what indicates it is operating correctly?

The unit should produce heat at the expected 2.5 kW output without tripping safety limits, and the Friedrich appliance should reach its set temperature normally during a heating cycle.
