Secure 1TB USB 3.0 drive

The Apricorn Aegis Secure Key ASK31TB is a hardware-encrypted flash drive with a 1TB capacity and a USB 3.0 interface. It uses 256-bit AES XTS encryption to protect data at rest without requiring any software installation. The drive is suited for professionals who must keep sensitive files portable and compliant.

Thermals noise and power

As a solid-state USB device it has no moving parts and draws power directly from the host port. Typical operation is silent and produces only modest warmth during normal file transfers. No external power adapter or active cooling is involved.

Sustained load behavior

Continuous read or write activity will maintain the USB 3.0 link speed within the thermal envelope of the flash controller. The hardware keypad remains responsive for unlocking while the drive is in use. Performance scales with the host controller and cable quality rather than an internal throttle.

Questions about this item

How do I set up the hardware keypad on the Aegis Secure Key ASK31TB?

Enter the default Admin PIN printed on the card, then create a new Admin PIN of 7 to 31 digits and a User PIN; the drive locks automatically when removed.

What maintenance does the Aegis Secure Key ASK31TB need over time?

No routine maintenance is required; if the internal battery eventually fails the keypad will not power up and the drive must be replaced.

What is the first limit I hit during sustained writes on this USB 3.0 flash drive?

The USB 3.0 interface caps sustained throughput well below the internal 256-bit AES XTS engine speed.
