Arista 7050TX-128-R 2 RU switch

The Arista DCS-7050TX-128-R is a 2 RU network switch built for data-centre racks that need dense 10 GbE copper connectivity. It suits operators who want a single chassis with 96 RJ-45 ports and 40 GbE uplinks running Arista EOS.

Copper distance and uplink ceiling

Each of the 96 Base-T ports reaches 100 metres over Cat-6a cabling, so cable runs are limited by the copper standard rather than the switch itself. The eight QSFP+ uplinks top out at 40 GbE, which caps aggregate north-south throughput for workloads that scale beyond that rate.

Rear-to-front airflow with dual 750 W supplies

The chassis ships with two hot-swappable 750 W AC power supplies and four hot-swappable fans, all oriented for rear-to-front cooling. Buyers whose racks use front-to-rear airflow or who lack compatible power cords will need a different airflow variant.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 96-port 10GbE RJ45 model or a version with fewer RJ45 ports and more QSFP+ uplinks?

This model provides 96 RJ45 ports at 1/10GbE and 8 QSFP+ ports at 40GbE; other port-count variants are separate SKUs not covered here.

What real-world throughput can I expect from the 96 10GbE RJ45 ports once the switch is in a rack?

Each RJ45 port negotiates at 1 or 10 Gbps and the non-blocking fabric sustains full line rate across all 96 ports simultaneously.

Does the 40GbE QSFP+ uplink interface limit me to 40 Gbps per port, or can it break out to 4×10 Gbps?

The 8 QSFP+ uplink ports run at 40 Gbps each and support 4×10 Gbps breakout with compatible optics or cables.
