Arista 36-port 100GbE line card

The Arista DCS-7500R2-36CQ-LC adds 36 QSFP28 ports at 100GbE to a compatible 7500R chassis. It is built for data-centre operators who need dense, high-throughput connectivity in a single slot. The card is not hot-swappable, so installation requires a planned maintenance window.

Upgrading from lower-density modules

Replacing older line cards with fewer ports or slower interfaces consolidates cabling and reduces per-port cost. The jump is worth it when traffic growth demands 36 additional 100GbE links and the chassis has a free slot. Buyers who need hot-swap capability or support for a different chassis family cannot use this card.

Chassis compatibility and slot planning

Verify the target system is an Arista DCS-7500R chassis identified by CAT-29492 before ordering. Confirm an empty line-card slot is available and that a controlled power-down can be scheduled for installation. No other chassis or slot type is supported.

Questions about this item

Which chassis slot does the 36-port 100GbE QSFP28 line card fit in?

It installs in an Arista DCS-7500R chassis that is listed as CAT-29492 compatible.

What is the correct shutdown sequence before inserting the DCS-7500R2-36CQ-LC?

Power down the entire 7500R chassis first because the line card is not hot-swappable.

When should the QSFP28 transceivers in the 36 ports be replaced?

Replace a transceiver when link errors rise or the module fails diagnostics; the card itself has no user-serviceable parts.
