Adds 36 ports of 40 GbE QSFP+ connectivity to an Arista 7500E series chassis
This Arista DCS-7500E-36Q-LC- line card adds thirty-six 40GbE QSFP+ ports to a compatible 7500E series chassis. It targets network operators who need dense 40-gigabit connectivity in a single slot. The module is not hot-swappable, so installation requires a planned maintenance window. Buyers needing hot-plug capability or different port speeds should look elsewhere.
The line card draws power directly from the chassis backplane and relies on the system fan trays for cooling. Acoustic output and thermal load scale with port utilisation and ambient temperature inside the rack. No independent power supply or separate cooling provision is required beyond what the host chassis already provides.
The module occupies one line-card slot in an Arista 7500E series chassis identified by CAT-15959. It consumes no external cabling beyond the QSFP+ transceivers and patch cords you choose. The fixed form factor frees adjacent slots for additional line cards or fabric modules, while the lack of hot-swap means the chassis must be powered down or the slot administratively disabled before insertion or removal.

Power down the 7500E chassis, insert the module into an empty line-card slot, and secure both captive screws; the step often missed is confirming the chassis is fully powered off because this module is not hot-swappable.
The module itself has no user-serviceable parts; plan to replace QSFP+ transceivers or cables if link errors appear, and schedule chassis fan-filter cleaning to maintain airflow over the line card.
The aggregate throughput ceiling of 36 ports at 40 GbE each is the first hard limit; chassis fabric and cooling capacity define the practical sustained rate.
