What the G34 is and who it targets

The ARRIS Surfboard G34 combines a DOCSIS 3.1 cable modem with an AX3000 Wi-Fi 6 router in a single unit. It is approved for use with major U.S. cable providers such as Cox, Spectrum and Xfinity. The device suits households or small offices that want to replace a rented gateway with owned hardware.

Installation ease and common issues

Setup is guided by the Surfboard Central App, which provides step-by-step instructions for activation and network customisation. Four 1-Gigabit Ethernet ports allow wired connections for desktop PCs, consoles or access points. Most problems arise when the ISP does not provision the MAC address correctly or when the coaxial signal levels fall outside specification.

Who should buy it and who should not

Buyers on cable plans up to 1 Gbps who want a single box for modem and router duties will find the G34 a direct fit. It is not suited for fibre, DSL or satellite connections, nor for users who need more than four wired ports or who require a separate modem and router for advanced configuration.

Questions about this item

How do I confirm the G34 is delivering AX3000 Wi-Fi speeds after setup?

Open the Surfboard Central App on your phone; it shows real-time link rates for each band so you can verify AX3000 performance.

What cables or accessories are not included with the G34?

The box contains the modem-router, power adapter and a coaxial cable; you must supply any additional Ethernet patch cables you need.

Should I choose the G34 for a 1 Gbps cable plan or a slower tier?

The G34 supports DOCSIS 3.1 plans up to 1 Gbps, so it matches the top tier and still works on lower-speed plans.
