High-density 4U storage barebone

The ASRock Rack 4U36L6E-ICX2/2T is a 4U rackmount barebone built for dense storage workloads. It provides thirty-six hot-swap 3.5″ drive bays, with four also accepting 2.5″ NVMe drives. Two additional hot-swap 2.5″ NVMe bays are included. Dual Intel X550-AT2 10GbE ports and IPMI remote management come standard.

Suits storage-centric deployments

This chassis targets users who need maximum 3.5″ capacity in a single 4U enclosure. It is not for builders who require GPU compute density, smaller form factors or lower power draw. Buyers needing integrated graphics beyond the Aspeed AST2500 or single-socket economy should evaluate other platforms.

Dual LGA 4189 sockets decide fit

The board supports two 3rd Gen Intel Xeon Scalable processors in LGA 4189 sockets. Sixteen DDR4 RDIMM or LRDIMM slots populate across both CPUs. Memory and CPUs are not installed. Power input accepts 100-127Vac or 200-240Vac with corresponding 800W or 1200W limits.

Questions about this item

How much power does the 1+1 1200W platinum supply draw at the wall when the 36-bay chassis is fully populated and running 24/7?

The redundant CRPS units deliver up to 800 W on 100-127 Vac or 1200 W on 200-240 Vac; actual draw depends on the CPUs, memory and drives you install.

Which specific components are not included and must be purchased separately before the system will boot?

You must add two LGA 4189 Xeon processors, DDR4 RDIMM or LRDIMM modules for the 16 DIMM slots, and 3.5-inch or 2.5-inch NVMe drives for the 36 hot-swap bays.

Will the dual 10GbE RJ45 ports from the Intel X550-AT2 negotiate down to 1 GbE for my existing Cat5e patch panel?

Yes, the X550-AT2 controller supports 10G, 5G, 2.5G, 1G and 100M speeds, so it will link at 1 GbE over your current cabling.
