Yellow Toner for Brother HL and MFC Printers

This new aftermarket yellow toner cartridge replaces the Brother TN229XXL and fits the HL-L3220cdw, HL-L3280cdw, HL-L3295cdw, HL-L3300cdw, HL-L8245cdw, MFC-L3720cdw, MFC-L3765cdw, MFC-L3780cdw and MFC-L8395cdw. It is sold as a single pack and carries an integrated chip for printer recognition. The cartridge is suited for home offices or small businesses that need colour output on these specific Brother models.

Page Yield and Compatibility Limits

The colour cartridge is rated for up to 4000 pages, while the black counterpart in the same series reaches 4500 pages. The chip enables communication with the listed printers, but the cartridge will not work in Brother machines outside the HL-L3220cdw, HL-L3280cdw, HL-L3295cdw, HL-L3300cdw, HL-L8245cdw, MFC-L3720cdw, MFC-L3765cdw, MFC-L3780cdw and MFC-L8395cdw range. It is not intended for mono-only printers or for models that require a different toner series.

Installation and Common Issues

Installation follows the standard Brother front-access procedure: open the cover, remove the old unit, shake the new cartridge gently, insert it until it clicks, then close the cover. The most frequent problem is a "toner not recognised" message caused by the chip not seating cleanly; reseating the cartridge usually clears it. Print quality defects such as streaks can appear if the protective seal is not fully removed before fitting. The cartridge is manufactured under ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 processes and has a two-year shelf life.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the black or colour version of the TN229XXL?

The black cartridge yields up to 4500 pages while each colour cartridge yields up to 4000 pages; pick the colour that matches the toner you need to replace.

What does the 4000-page figure mean for my actual printing?

It is the ISO-rated yield at 5% coverage on A4 paper; heavier graphics or full-page photos will reduce the number of pages you actually get.

Which printers does the TN229XXL chip work with?

The chip is recognised by Brother HL-L3220cdw, HL-L3280cdw, HL-L3295cdw, HL-L3300cdw, HL-L8245cdw, MFC-L3720cdw, MFC-L3765cdw, MFC-L3780cdw and MFC-L8395cdw.
