Panel-mount USB-C adapter

This panel-mount USB-C female-to-female adapter installs through a 15.8x15mm dashboard cut-out and carries a dust cover for waterproof protection. It is built for car, yacht or motorcycle dashboards where a sealed connection is required. The connector supports hot-plug operation and works as a straight-through gender changer.

Build integration

The adapter fits an existing mounting hole or a new 15.8x15mm opening and needs no extra tools beyond the panel cut-out. It frees the builder from running a loose cable through the dashboard while keeping the port sealed against water and dust. The unit simply bridges two male USB-C plugs inside the panel.

Dust cover and speed

The supplied dust cover seals the unused side when no cable is plugged in, maintaining the waterproof rating. Data passes at USB 2.0 rates up to 480Mbps with backward compatibility to 1.1. No driver or software is needed for operation.

Questions about this item

What is the maximum data rate this panel-mount USB-C coupler can sustain under continuous use?

The coupler supports USB 2.0 speeds up to 480 Mbps, so sustained transfers are limited to that rate.

Does the waterproof panel connector generate noticeable heat or draw extra power when left plugged in all day?

It is a passive female-to-female adapter with no active electronics, so it produces no measurable heat and draws no power on its own.

What size dashboard cut-out must I already have to mount this 15.8 mm by 15 mm panel connector?

You need a 15.8 x 15 mm rectangular opening, or an existing mounting hole that matches those dimensions.
