Portable M.2 NVMe and SATA enclosure

The ASUS Cobble accepts M.2 2242, 2260 and 2280 drives using either NVMe PCIe or SATA interfaces. Tool-free Q-Latch installation makes drive swaps simple for creators, technicians and console gamers who need fast external storage.

Thermals and power

An aluminium top cover spreads heat across a wide surface without any fan, keeping the SSD cool during sustained transfers. The IP55 rating protects the drive from dust and water splashes while the bus-powered USB connection draws no separate AC adapter.

What the bundle changes

A thermal pad is included to improve contact between the drive and the aluminium shell, helping maintain consistent speeds. Compatibility spans Windows 7 or later, macOS Catalina or later and Chrome OS, so the same enclosure works across desktops, laptops and current game consoles.

Questions about this item

How do I install an M.2 NVMe or SATA SSD into the ASUS Cobble enclosure?

Slide the drive into the M.2 slot at the correct key notch, press the Q-Latch down until it clicks, then snap the screwless-lock cover shut — no tools required.

What maintenance will the thermal pad need over time?

The included thermal pad transfers heat to the aluminium top cover; inspect it periodically and replace if it becomes brittle or loses contact with the SSD.

At what point does the IP55 rating limit sustained outdoor use?

IP55 protects against low-pressure water jets and dust ingress; continuous immersion or high-pressure spray exceeds the rating and can allow moisture inside.
