Micro-ATX AM5 board with dual-channel DDR5 up to 128 GB, PCIe 4.0 and 3.0 M.2 slots, Wi-Fi 6, 2.5 Gb Ethernet and Realtek ALC1220 7.1 audio with ESS SABRE ES9218C DAC
The ASUS B850M AYW GAMING WIFI motherboard is built for AMD Ryzen 7000, 8000 and 9000 series processors using the AM5 socket. It targets gamers and content creators who want a compact micro-ATX board with modern connectivity. Dual-channel DDR5 memory is supported up to 128 GB at speeds beyond 4733 MHz when overclocked. The board also provides a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot and reinforced PCIe 3.0 slots for graphics and add-in cards.
The power delivery uses a robust VRM design with heatsinks to keep temperatures controlled during typical gaming sessions. Fan headers support PWM and DC modes so chassis fans can run quietly at low loads. The board draws only idle power from the 24-pin and 8-pin EPS connectors when the system is at the desktop. Realtek ALC1220 audio with ESS SABRE ES9218C DAC operates without adding measurable heat to the rear I/O area.
Under extended heavy workloads the VRM heatsinks absorb and dissipate heat to prevent throttling of high-core-count CPUs. The PCIe 4.0 M.2 slot and PCIe 3.0 M.2 slot maintain rated throughput without thermal slowdown thanks to onboard shielding. Wi-Fi 6 and 2.5 Gb Ethernet controllers stay stable during large file transfers. Rear USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C and eight Gen 1 Type-A ports keep bandwidth consistent for peripherals and external storage.

Align the triangle marker on the Ryzen CPU with the socket corner, lower it flat without pressure, then close the retention arm — the common error is pressing down before the arm locks.
The Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2 controller is soldered to the board; no user-serviceable parts exist, so only driver updates apply — hardware replacement would require a full board swap.
The PCIe 4.0 x16 slot and VRM cooling define the thermal ceiling; prolonged maximum throughput will throttle at the board’s power-phase temperature limit before the slot bandwidth saturates.
