14-inch WQXGA 165 Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS FA401EA-DS96 pairs a 14.0-inch 2560 x 1600 display running at 165 Hz with 100% sRGB coverage. An AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 392 processor integrates 12 Zen 5 cores and Radeon 8060S graphics with 40 RDNA 3.5 compute units. 32 GB LPDDR5X memory and a 1 TB PCIe SSD complete the core specification. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed.

Check power delivery and display outputs before

The chassis provides one USB4 Type-C port with DisplayPort and power delivery at up to 40 Gbps, one USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C with DisplayPort at up to 10 Gbps, and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports at up to 10 Gbps. Verify that your dock, monitor or charger matches these signalling rates and power profiles. Wireless connectivity uses Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2.

Replaces bulkier discrete-GPU notebooks for 1080p

The integrated Radeon 8060S delivers frame rates that rival a separate mobile GPU while drawing less combined power, so thermals and battery life improve. The step up makes sense when you want a 3.26 lb device measuring 12.24 x 8.94 x 0.67~0.78 inches that still handles modern titles at native 1600p or scaled 1080p without a dedicated graphics module.

Questions about this item

What comes in the box with the ASUS FA401EA-DS96 and what must I buy separately?

The laptop ships with the AMD Ryzen AI MAX+ 392 processor, Radeon 8060S Graphics, 32 GB LPDDR5X memory, 1 TB PCIe SSD, 14.0" 2560 x 1600 165 Hz display and Windows 11 Home. No user-upgradable parts are listed, so plan on external storage or peripherals if you need more capacity or ports.

Which version of the FA401EA-DS96 should I choose for the 165 Hz WQXGA panel and 32 GB memory?

The single listed configuration FA401EA-DS96 already includes the 14.0" 2560 x 1600 165 Hz display, 32 GB LPDDR5X memory and 1 TB PCIe SSD, so no alternate version or capacity selection is required.

What does the 165 Hz refresh rate mean when I am gaming on the Radeon 8060S graphics?

The 165 Hz panel can show up to 165 frames per second, letting the Radeon 8060S graphics deliver smoother motion in fast-paced titles compared to standard 60 Hz screens, provided the game runs at high frame rates.
