ROG Strix G16 gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 is a 16-inch Windows 11 Home laptop built around an Intel Core i9-14900HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 Laptop GPU. It targets gamers and creators who want high frame rates in a thin-and-light chassis finished in Eclipse Gray.

Check power, memory and storage before ordering

The system ships with a 280 W adapter and draws up to 255 W in Manual mode, so verify your outlets and any travel adapters can handle that load. Memory is 16 GB of DDR5-5600 and storage is a 1 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD; confirm these capacities meet your workload before purchase.

Sustained load behaviour and thermal headroom

In Turbo mode the laptop runs at 230 W total system power, while Manual mode unlocks the full 255 W for extended sessions. ROG Intelligent Cooling is designed to keep clocks stable under that continuous load rather than throttling after a short burst.

Questions about this item

Will the 16GB of DDR5-5600 memory be enough for modern games, or should I plan to upgrade?

The laptop ships with 16GB of DDR5-5600 memory; many current titles run well at this capacity, but heavy multitasking or future releases may benefit from an upgrade if the chassis provides an accessible SO-DIMM slot.

Does the 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD leave room for a second drive?

The specifications list a single 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD; whether a second M.2 slot is available is not detailed in the supplied data, so you would need to check the service manual or contact ASUS support.

What does the 255W maximum system power in Manual mode mean for everyday use?

In Manual mode the cooling solution can sustain up to 255W total system power, allowing the i9-14900HX and RTX 5060 to maintain higher clocks longer, though fan noise and surface temperatures will increase accordingly.
