Socket & Chipset

The ASUS PRIME X399-A is an AMD motherboard built for the sTR4 platform and X399 chipset. It targets builders assembling high-core-count workstations or enthusiast systems. The board delivers the connectivity expected from an extended ATX design.

SATA 3.1

The headline storage interface is SATA 3.1 running at 6 Gb/s for traditional drives. No other storage protocol or speed is listed in the supplied data. This single specification determines whether the board matches your drive pool.

Workstation builders needing sTR4

Suits users who specifically require the sTR4 socket and X399 chipset for compatible processors. Not for builders who need a different socket, a smaller form factor, or storage interfaces beyond SATA 3.1.
