Gaming mini-PC with Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX, RTX 5080 16GB GDDR7, 32GB DDR5 6400, 2TB storage, Wi-Fi 7 and three-fan cooling
The ROG NUC 16 AI packs an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 mobile GPU with 16GB GDDR7 memory into a compact chassis. It targets gamers and creators who want desktop-class performance for AAA titles, 3D rendering, AI workloads, and 8K video editing in a portable 3.12kg form factor.
This system replaces laptops or small desktops that rely on integrated graphics and cannot sustain heavy GPU loads. The jump is worth it when you need RTX-accelerated AI graphics with DLSS for smooth gameplay and faster content creation, plus dual-channel DDR5 6400 memory and a 2TB PCIe Gen4 SSD for rapid multitasking.
Thumb screws provide tool-free entry to the two 288-pin DIMM slots supporting up to 128GB DDR5 and the storage bay for expansion. What usually goes wrong is forgetting to seat memory modules fully in both channels or neglecting airflow clearance around the triple-fan and dual vapor chamber cooling system that keeps noise below 4.5 BA.

The board takes two 288-pin DDR5 6400 CSO-DIMM sticks; dual-channel is supported up to 128 GB total.
Loosen the captive thumb screws on the bottom panel, lift the cover, insert modules into the two DDR5 slots or the PCIe 4.0 M.2 bay, then retighten the screws by hand.
The 330 W adapter and three fans are rated for continuous operation; replace the adapter only if output voltage drops, and clean fan intakes periodically to maintain the <4.5 BA acoustic level.
