ATX board for AM4 Ryzen CPUs with dual-channel DDR4 up to 128 GB, one PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, six SATA ports and two M.2 slots
The ASUS ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING is an ATX board built for AMD Ryzen 5000, 4000 G-Series and 3000 series processors on the AM4 socket. It uses the AMD B550 chipset and provides four 288-pin slots for DDR4 memory up to 128GB in dual-channel mode. A BIOS update may be required before installing a Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 CPU.
Large VRM heatsinks cover the power delivery for steady thermals during extended loads. Multiple hybrid fan headers let the board balance CPU and chassis airflow based on temperature sensors. The layout keeps the primary PCIe 4.0 x16 slot clear for a graphics card while the chipset runs on a PCIe 3.0 link.
Two M.2 sockets and six SATA 6Gb/s ports give flexible storage options with RAID 0, 1 and 10 support. The rear I/O includes a clear CMOS button and a USB BIOS FlashBack port for firmware updates without a CPU installed. Onboard audio uses the ROG SupremeFX S1220A codec for high-definition output.

Lift the AM4 socket lever, align the Ryzen processor triangle with the socket marker, lower the CPU gently without force, then lock the lever down; the step many miss is checking that the BIOS version supports the specific Ryzen 5000 series chip before first boot.
The onboard S1220A codec is soldered and requires no scheduled maintenance; if audio quality degrades, verify driver updates first, as the chip itself is not user-replaceable.
The VRM thermal limit is reached before the 128 GB memory ceiling or PCIe 4.0 x16 bandwidth, so adequate case airflow and heatsink contact become the practical ceiling for prolonged heavy workloads.
