16-inch 2.5K 300Hz Gaming Notebook

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 is a 16.0-inch gaming laptop built around a 2560 x 1600 ROG Nebula display running at 300Hz. It pairs an AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX hexadeca-core processor with 32 threads and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with 8GB GDDR7. Sixteen gigabytes of DDR5 memory and a 1TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD complete the core specification.

Upgrade from 60Hz panels and 8-core CPUs

Moving from a standard 60Hz screen to the 300Hz panel makes motion visibly smoother in competitive titles. The jump from an 8-core mobile chip to the 16-core Ryzen 9 9955HX cuts render times and keeps background tasks from stalling the game. The step is worth it when frame consistency and multi-thread throughput matter more than battery longevity.

Limits of the 300Hz laptop display

The 300Hz refresh rate only applies to the internal panel; external monitors run at their own native rates over the single HDMI output. The 16GB DDR5 configuration ships at 64GB maximum capacity, so memory-heavy workloads may hit the ceiling. Storage uses a PCIe 4.0 NVMe interface, so Gen 5 drives will operate at Gen 4 speeds.
