16-inch WUXGA 165Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 G615JHR-DS74-HID8 is a 16-inch Windows 11 Home gaming laptop built for players who want high frame rates on a fast IPS-level panel. It pairs a 14th Generation Intel Core i7-14650HX processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 graphics card for modern title performance.

32 GB DDR5 5600 MHz and 4 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe

The system ships with 32 GB of dual-channel DDR5 memory at 5600 MHz, giving headroom for multitasking and memory-heavy workloads before a swap file is needed. Storage is a 4 TB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe array (two 2 TB drives) that keeps game installs and large media libraries local with fast load times.

RTX 5050 with 8 GB GDDR7 video memory

The single specification that defines fit is the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 GPU equipped with 8 GB of GDDR7 memory. That frame-buffer size and memory technology set the ceiling for texture quality, resolution scaling and ray-tracing workloads the laptop can sustain.

Questions about this item

Will the 165Hz WUXGA panel and RTX 5050 GPU work well with my older 60 Hz external monitor?

The laptop drives its internal 165Hz 1920 x 1200 IPS-level display and the RTX 5050 with 8 GB GDDR7 simultaneously, so a 60 Hz external screen will run at its native rate without affecting the built-in panel.

How can I verify the CPU is hitting its 5.7 GHz max turbo and the DDR5 is running at 5600 MHz after setup?

Open Task Manager or a monitoring utility; the Performance tab shows the i7-14650HX core clocks reaching 5.7 GHz under load and the 32 GB DDR5 operating at 5600 MHz in dual-channel mode.

What storage and memory are already installed, and do I need to buy any drives or RAM sticks?

The unit ships with 4 TB of M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD (2 x 2 TB) and 32 GB DDR5 5600 MHz (2 x 16 GB), so no additional storage or memory purchase is required.
