AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX power

The ASUS ROG Strix G16 is a 16-inch laptop built around a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX processor and dedicated NVIDIA RTX 5070 graphics with 8GB GDDR7 video memory. It ships with 32GB DDR5 memory and a 2TB SSD, running Windows 11 Home. This configuration targets users who need strong multi-threaded compute and modern GPU performance in a portable form factor.

WUXGA 165 Hz display limits

The 16-inch IPS-level panel uses a 1920x1200 WUXGA resolution with a 16:10 aspect ratio, 165Hz refresh rate and 3ms response time. It covers 100% sRGB at 300 nits brightness with a 1000:1 contrast ratio. Buyers who need wider colour gamuts such as Adobe RGB or DCI-P3, higher peak brightness for HDR work, or refresh rates above 165Hz for competitive esports will find this screen limiting.

32 GB DDR5 soldered capacity

The system includes 32GB of DDR5 memory and supports a maximum of 96GB, indicating soldered modules with limited upgrade headroom. Users planning heavy virtualisation, large dataset analysis or memory-intensive rendering should verify that 32GB meets their workload before purchase, as expanding beyond the factory configuration may not be possible.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 32 GB DDR5 model or wait for a 96 GB DDR5 version?

This laptop ships with 32 GB of DDR5 memory installed. The board supports up to 96 GB, so you can add more later if your workloads grow.

What does the 5.4 GHz boost on the Ryzen 9 9955HX actually deliver in daily use?

The 16-core processor can hit 5.4 GHz on turbo, giving strong single-thread speed for gaming and fast multi-thread throughput for rendering or compiling.

How does the Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 combo perform in a crowded office?

Wi-Fi 6E adds the 6 GHz band for less interference, while Bluetooth 5.3 keeps peripherals stable; together they handle dense wireless environments reliably.
