18-inch 2.5K 240Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 is an 18-inch gaming laptop built around a 2560 x 1600 WQXGA display running at 240Hz. It targets users who want a large, high-refresh screen paired with a 24-core Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060 graphics with 8GB DDR7 memory. The system ships with 64GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD under Windows 11 Home.

Thunderbolt 4 and HDMI 2.1 FRL port limits

The laptop provides one Thunderbolt 4 port and one USB-C 3.2 port alongside three USB-A 3.2 ports and an HDMI 2.1 FRL output. Thunderbolt 4 supports data, video and charging through a single cable, while HDMI 2.1 FRL can drive external displays at high refresh rates. Both interfaces share total system bandwidth, so simultaneous high-throughput devices may reduce individual link speeds.

Verify charger, dock and display cables before

The 275HX processor reaches 5.4 GHz turbo frequency and the RTX 5060 GPU demands substantial power, so confirm your power adapter meets the laptop's original wattage requirement. If you plan to use a Thunderbolt dock or USB-C hub, ensure it is certified for Thunderbolt 4 to guarantee full 40Gbps throughput. For external monitors, use an HDMI 2.1 certified cable to unlock the full 240Hz potential at 2.5K resolution.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 64GB DDR4 and 1TB PCIe SSD configuration or look for a different capacity?

This model ships with 64GB DDR4 memory and a 1TB PCIe SSD already installed, so there is no alternative capacity to select.

What does the 240Hz 2.5K panel actually deliver in games?

The 18" 2560 x 1600 display runs at 240Hz with 500nits brightness, giving smooth motion and sharp detail at the native 2.5K resolution.

What does the Thunderbolt 4 port support and what speed does it cap at?

The single Thunderbolt 4 port handles data, video and charging through one USB-C connector, while the additional USB-C 3.2 and three USB-A 3.2 ports provide extra peripheral bandwidth.
