18-inch 240 Hz WQXGA panel

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 is an 18-inch gaming laptop built around a 2560x1600 display that runs at 240 Hz. It pairs an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 8 GB GDDR7 GPU. The system ships with 32 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMM memory and a 4 TB PCIe NVMe SSD. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed in Eclipse Gray chassis.

High-refresh competitive gaming

This machine suits players who want a large, fast screen for competitive titles and creators who need 16 cores and 32 threads for rendering or streaming. The 90 Whr battery and 280 W power supply limit unplugged runtime, so buyers who prioritise all-day mobility should look at smaller ultraportables with lower-wattage components.

4 TB PCIe NVMe storage capacity

The single specification that decides fit is the 4 TB PCIe NVMe SSD. It holds a large modern game library, project files and the operating system without needing a secondary drive. If your workflow demands more than 4 TB of local high-speed storage, you will need external expansion or a different configuration.

Questions about this item

Will the 240 Hz WQXGA panel work with my older external monitor that only supports 60 Hz over HDMI?

Yes, the HDMI output can drive a 60 Hz display while the built-in 18 inch 2560x1600 panel runs at its native 240 Hz.

How can I verify the Ryzen 9 8940HX is hitting its 5.3 GHz boost and the RTX 5070 is using its 8 GB GDDR7?

Open Task Manager or Armoury Crate to watch the CPU clock reach 5.3 GHz under load and confirm the GPU shows 8 GB GDDR7 dedicated memory.

Does the box include a second DDR5 SO-DIMM slot free for expansion, or is the 32 GB soldered?

The 32 GB DDR5 SO-DIMM occupies one slot; a second slot is free for additional DDR5 modules if you want more memory later.
