18" WQXGA 240Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 G814FP pairs an 18.0 inch 2560 x 1600 IPS-level panel running at 240 Hz with a 16-core AMD Ryzen 9 9955HX and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and targets enthusiasts who want desktop-class speed in a portable Eclipse Gray chassis.

32 GB DDR5 and 8 TB PCIe 4.0 storage

Dual-channel 5600 MHz DDR5 memory handles heavy multitasking and memory-hungry workloads without swapping. The 8 TB NVMe array (2 x 4 TB) delivers rapid boot and load times, while the 5.4 GHz max turbo frequency on the 9000 series CPU sustains high throughput until thermal limits engage.

Gelid GC Extreme GPU paste

HIDevolution replaces the stock thermal interface with Gelid GC Extreme on the GPU and Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut on the CPU for measurably lower core temperatures. A full quality-control pass installs the latest BIOS and drivers, runs burn-in stress tests, and verifies every port, keyboard key, and display pixel before shipment.

Questions about this item

Will the 2560 x 1600 240Hz panel run at its native refresh rate when I connect an older external monitor over HDMI?

The built-in 18" WQXGA display runs at 240 Hz independently; an external monitor connected via HDMI will operate at its own supported refresh rate without limiting the internal panel.

How can I verify the Ryzen 9 9955HX is hitting its 5.4 GHz turbo and the RTX 5070 is using its 8 GB GDDR7 after setup?

Open Task Manager or a hardware monitor such as HWInfo; the CPU should show clocks up to 5.4 GHz under load and the GPU tab will list 8 GB GDDR7 video memory.

The spec lists 8 TB storage as 2 x 4 TB drives — are both M.2 slots already populated or is one free for expansion?

Both M.2 slots are occupied by the 4 TB PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSDs, so no free slot remains unless you replace one of the installed drives.
