18-inch WUXGA gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 G814PH-ES94-HID14 is an 18-inch gaming laptop with a 1920 x 1200 WUXGA IPS-level display running at 144Hz. It is powered by an AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX 16-core processor with a max turbo frequency of 5.2 GHz and 64 MB L3 cache. An NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5050 GPU with 8 GB GDDR7 handles graphics workloads. The system ships with 64 GB DDR5 5600MHz memory in dual-channel configuration and 8 TB of M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe storage across two 4 TB drives. Windows 11 Home is pre-installed.

Suits high-refresh mobile gaming

This configuration suits users who want a large high-refresh screen, 16-core CPU performance and 8 TB of fast storage in a single chassis. The 64 GB DDR5 kit and dual 4 TB drives leave little need for immediate upgrades. Buyers who prioritise a lighter chassis or longer unplugged runtime should look at smaller or lower-power alternatives. The 6.61 lb weight and 0.91 to 1.21 inch profile reflect the 18-inch form factor and cooling capacity.

Verify power and peripheral needs before ordering

Confirm that your workspace can accommodate the 15.71 x 11.57 inch footprint and that you have access to a suitable power outlet for the supplied adapter. Check that any external displays you plan to use support the laptop's video outputs and target refresh rates. Ensure your preferred peripherals connect via the available USB and audio ports. The system ships with Windows 11 Home; verify application compatibility if you rely on legacy software.

Questions about this item

What power adapter wattage is required for the Ryzen 9 8940HX and RTX 5050 to run at full speed?

The laptop ships with an ASUS power adapter rated for the 16-core CPU and 8 GB GDDR7 GPU; use only the supplied unit or an identical replacement.

Will an external 144 Hz G-Sync monitor work with the RTX 5050 over HDMI 2.1?

The HDMI 2.1 port drives a 144 Hz WUXGA signal, so a matching external panel will run at its native refresh rate without adapter cables.

How can I confirm the 8 TB RAID 0 array is recognised after first boot?

Open Disk Management in Windows 11 Home; a single 8 TB NVMe volume with two 4 TB partitions confirms the PCIe 4.0 x4 drives are striped correctly.
