18-inch 240 Hz WQXGA gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 is an 18-inch gaming laptop built around a 240 Hz WQXGA display. It pairs a Ryzen 9 8940HX processor with an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 8GB GDDR7 graphics card. The system includes 32GB DDR5 SO-DIMM memory and an 8TB PCIe NVMe SSD. It ships with Windows 11 Pro and a 90 WHr battery.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

This machine suits buyers who want a large high-refresh screen, 16-core CPU performance and 8TB of fast storage in a single chassis. The 18.0" 2560x1600 panel and 240 Hz rate benefit competitive and immersive gaming. Users who need a lighter device, longer unplugged runtime or a smaller form factor should consider other models.

The specification that decides fit

The 18.0-inch 2560x1600 240 Hz display is the single specification that decides fit. It defines the physical footprint, the visual workspace and the motion clarity available in games. If that screen size, resolution and refresh combination matches the buyer's primary use case, the supporting hardware is aligned to drive it.

Questions about this item

How loud does the 280 W power adapter and 90 Whr battery get during all-day gaming?

The 280 W adapter supplies sustained power to the Ryzen 9 8940HX and RTX 5070 while the 4-cell 90 Whr battery handles lighter loads, keeping fan noise lower during mixed use.

Which external monitor cable do I already need for the HDMI port on this G18?

A standard HDMI cable connects the laptop to any external display, letting the RTX 5070 drive a second screen at up to 2560x1600 resolution.

Will my existing DDR5 SO-DIMM modules work if I want to expand the 32 GB memory?

The laptop uses DDR5 SO-DIMM slots, so any compatible DDR5 SO-DIMM kit can be added alongside the factory-installed 32 GB.
