18-inch WQXGA 240Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 is an 18-inch gaming laptop built around an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX 24-core processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with 8GB GDDR7 memory. It ships with 32GB DDR5 RAM and a 2TB PCIe SSD. The 2560 x 1600 IPS panel runs at 240Hz for smooth motion in competitive titles.

Thunderbolt 4 and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity

A single Thunderbolt 4 port sits alongside three USB 3.2 Type-A ports, one USB 3.2 Type-C port, HDMI and RJ-45 Ethernet. Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 handle wireless duties. The 2TB PCIe SSD provides high-speed storage without occupying a 2.5-inch bay, leaving internal space uncluttered for airflow.

24-core CPU with 5.4 GHz turbo under load

The 24-core processor reaches 5.4 GHz turbo frequency across its 8 performance cores and 16 efficient cores. Sustained workloads are managed by the ROG cooling architecture designed for the 18-inch chassis. The RTX 5070 8GB GDDR7 graphics maintain stable frame rates during extended sessions without thermal throttling.

Questions about this item

How long can the 24-core Intel Ultra 9 275HX sustain its 5.4 GHz turbo before thermals throttle it?

The 24-core Intel Ultra 9 275HX with 36 MB cache hits 5.4 GHz turbo; sustained clocks depend on the ROG cooling solution and workload, so expect throttling once the 18-inch chassis reaches its thermal limit.

What are the fan noise and surface temperatures when the RTX 5070 8 GB GDDR7 runs at full load for hours?

Under continuous load the RTX 5070 8 GB GDDR7 and 24-core CPU push the dual-fan system; fan speed and keyboard-deck temperatures rise noticeably but stay within ASUS ROG design targets for an 18-inch gaming laptop.

Which external GPU enclosure works with the single Thunderbolt 4 port on this laptop?

Any Thunderbolt 4 certified eGPU enclosure connects to the lone Thunderbolt 4 port; the link provides PCIe bandwidth for external graphics while the internal RTX 5070 8 GB GDDR7 remains active.
