18-inch WUXGA gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G18 is an 18-inch gaming laptop built around a 24-core Intel Core i9-14900HX processor and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU with 8GB GDDR7 memory. It targets users who want desktop-class performance in a portable chassis for high-refresh competitive play and content creation.

Wi-Fi 7 and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity

The system ships with Wi-Fi 7 for lower-latency wireless networking and a Thunderbolt 4 port alongside three USB-A 3.2 ports, one USB-C 3.2 port, HDMI 2.1 FRL and RJ45 Ethernet. A four-zone RGB backlit keyboard and an FHD IR camera complete the bundled feature set.

Pre-opened chassis for upgrades

The manufacturer seal is opened by engineers to install the 16GB DDR5 memory and 512GB PCIe SSD before shipment. This reduces factory defects but means the original packaging shows signs of handling. Buyers should verify the upgraded components on first boot.

Questions about this item

How easy is it to replace the 512GB PCIe SSD later?

The 512GB PCIe SSD can be swapped after removing the bottom panel; the laptop uses a standard M.2 slot so any compatible drive will fit.

What thermal limit appears first when the i9-14900HX runs at 5.7GHz for long sessions?

The CPU will hit its thermal throttle point before the GPU, reducing clocks to stay within the cooling capacity of the dual-fan system.

How loud do the fans get when the RTX 5070 and i9-14900HX are both under full load all day?

Fan noise rises to a noticeable but not disruptive level; the 1.26-inch chassis allows enough airflow to keep acoustics manageable during extended gaming.
