18-inch 240 Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Strix G815LP-IS96 is an 18-inch Windows 11 Pro laptop built around an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor with 24 cores and a 5.4 GHz turbo frequency. It pairs 64 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMM memory with a 1 TB PCIe NVMe SSD and an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 GPU carrying 8 GB of GDDR7 video memory. The 2560 x 1600 IPS panel runs at 240 Hz for fast-paced gaming and content creation.

Suits high-refresh competitive play.

This machine targets users who want desktop-class frame rates on a large 240 Hz display, backed by Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, USB 3.2 Type-C and RJ-45 for wired networking. WiFi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 handle wireless peripherals, while the 90 Wh battery and 280 W power supply support extended sessions. Buyers needing a light, thin chassis or touchscreen input should look elsewhere.

64 GB DDR5 SO-DIMM decides capacity headroom

The single most decisive spec is the 64 GB of DDR5 SO-DIMM memory, which determines whether the system can hold large game textures, virtual machines and creative workloads without paging. If your workflow demands more memory than this soldered-plus-slot configuration provides, a different platform is required. Otherwise the spec unlocks the full potential of the 24-core CPU and RTX 5070.

Questions about this item

Can the 64GB DDR5 SO-DIMM memory be upgraded later?

The laptop uses DDR5 SO-DIMM modules, so memory can be replaced with compatible DDR5 sticks if slots are free.

Will the 280W power supply limit sustained performance of the Ultra 9 275HX and RTX 5070?

The 280W adapter powers both the 24-core CPU and 8GB GDDR7 GPU; under full load the power budget is the first ceiling you hit.

How loud and hot does the 18-inch 240Hz IPS chassis get during all-day gaming?

A 90 WHr battery and 280W PSU feed high-wattage silicon in a 1.4-inch thick gray chassis, so fans spin up and surface temperatures rise noticeably.
