ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4080 Gaming graphics card

This graphics card uses the NVIDIA Ada Lovelace architecture with 16GB of GDDR6X memory. It connects via a PCIe 4.0 interface and provides HDMI 2.1a and DisplayPort 1.4a outputs. The design targets enthusiasts who want high frame rates at 4K resolution.

Thermals noise and power draw

Three scaled-up Axial-tech fans deliver 23% more airflow across a massive fin array. A patented vapor chamber with a milled heatspreader lowers GPU temperatures. Digital power control with high-current stages and 15K capacitors manages power delivery efficiently. The diecast shroud, frame, and backplate are vented to maximize heat dissipation.

Sustained load behaviour

The 3.5-slot design maintains cooling capacity during extended sessions. GPU Tweak III software provides thermal controls and system monitoring for long-term stability. High-current power stages and 15K capacitors support consistent performance without throttling. The rigid diecast construction prevents PCB flex under continuous thermal cycling.

Questions about this item

How do I install the 3.5-slot card and which clearance step gets missed?

Mount the card in a PCIe 4.0 x16 slot, connect the required power cables, then verify case width and cable routing because the 3.5-slot cooler extends beyond standard brackets.

What maintenance will the triple Axial-tech fans and vapor chamber need later?

Dust the three Axial-tech fans and fin array every few months; the sealed vapor chamber and milled heatspreader require no user service.

Which limit appears first during sustained 4080 load — thermals or power?

The 15K capacitors and digital power control deliver stable current, so the 3.5-slot vapor-chamber cooler typically hits its thermal ceiling before power delivery does.
