Handheld gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X RC73XA is a 7 inch Windows 11 Pro device built around an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor with 8 cores and 16 threads. It pairs 24 GB of LPDDR5X memory with a 2 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD and a 120 Hz FHD touch display. The chassis measures 11.42 by 4.76 by 1.08 inches and weighs 1.58 lbs.

Suits portable play, not desktop replacement

This unit fits users who want a compact system for game streaming, indie titles and productivity on the move. The integrated AMD Radeon graphics and 7 inch screen limit high-fidelity AAA performance, so buyers chasing 4K output or sustained heavy workloads should consider larger laptops with discrete GPUs.

Build around USB-C power and external storage

The small footprint leaves room in a bag for a compact charger and a portable NVMe drive if the internal 2 TB fills up. On-board LPDDR5X cannot be upgraded, so memory capacity is fixed at purchase. The 120 Hz touch panel works well for direct input, while the Windows 11 Pro install supports standard peripheral connections.

Questions about this item

Does the ROG Xbox Ally X RC73XA need an external monitor to use the 7" FHD 120Hz touchscreen?

The built-in 7" 1920 x 1080 120Hz IPS touchscreen works immediately; no external display is required for operation.

Can I keep using my existing USB-C hub with the ROG Xbox Ally X RC73XA?

The system runs Windows 11 Pro on an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme with 24 GB LPDDR5X, so any hub compatible with Windows USB-C will function normally.

How can I verify the 2 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD is performing at full speed after setup?

Run a sequential read benchmark in Windows; sustained throughput near the PCIe 4.0 x4 ceiling confirms the drive is operating as intended.
