Compact Windows handheld with Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme

The ASUS ROG Xbox Ally X RC73XA is a 7.0 inch FHD 120Hz touchscreen device running Windows 11 Home. It uses an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme processor with 8 cores and 16 threads, boosting to 5.0 GHz. Integrated AMD Radeon graphics handle the visual workload. The system ships with 24 GB of LPDDR5X memory and a 2 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD.

Self-contained platform needing only power

All core components are soldered or integrated inside the 11.42 by 4.76 by 1.08 inch chassis weighing 1.58 lbs. No internal slots remain for memory or storage expansion. The USB4 and USB-C ports accept external drives, docks or displays. The built-in 7 inch 1920 x 1080 panel frees the user from carrying a separate monitor for mobile play.

Sustained output managed by upgraded thermal

Gelid GC Extreme thermal compound replaces the stock paste on the processor die. This lowers steady-state temperatures during extended sessions compared with the standard configuration. The 24 MB L3 cache and LPDDR5X bandwidth keep the 8 core CPU fed during long compiles or background downloads while the Radeon iGPU maintains consistent frame pacing at 120 Hz.

Questions about this item

Will the 7-inch touchscreen work with my existing Xbox controller layout?

The 7-inch FHD 120Hz IPS-Level touchscreen supports touch input and runs Windows 11 Home, so Xbox Game Bar and touch-enabled titles respond directly on the panel.

Can the 2 TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD be expanded later if I need more space?

The unit ships with a 2 TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSD installed; any further storage upgrade would require opening the chassis and fitting another compatible M.2 module.

Does the 24 GB LPDDR5X memory allow smooth multitasking while streaming and gaming?

The 24 GB LPDDR5X (2 x 12 GB) on-board memory runs at system-rated speed and is shared between the Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme CPU and Radeon graphics, supporting heavy multitask loads.
