16-inch 240 Hz OLED gaming laptop

The ASUS ROG Zephyrus G16 GU605CX pairs a 16-inch 2.5K OLED panel running at 240 Hz with an Intel Core Ultra 9 285H processor and an NVIDIA RTX 5090 GPU carrying 24 GB GDDR7 video memory. It ships with 32 GB LPDDR5X system memory and 16 TB of PCIe 4.0 NVMe storage across two 8 TB modules. Windows 11 Pro is pre-installed.

Who this suits and who should look elsewhere

Creative professionals and competitive gamers who need a colour-accurate 240 Hz OLED screen, 24 GB GDDR7 graphics memory and 16 TB high-speed storage in a 4.08 lb chassis will benefit. Buyers who require user-upgradable RAM, a larger display or a lower-cost configuration should consider other models.

Deciding specification: 24 GB GDDR7 video memory

The RTX 5090 with 24 GB GDDR7 is the single spec that determines fit. Workloads such as 8K video editing, heavy 3D rendering or high-resolution gaming with large texture pools need this VRAM capacity; lighter tasks will not use it fully.

Questions about this item

What existing RAM modules will work alongside the 32 GB LPDDR5X 7467 soldered in this GU605CX?

The 32 GB LPDDR5X 7467 is soldered directly to the motherboard and no additional SO-DIMM slots are present, so no existing RAM modules can be added.

Will the 2 x 8 TB M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe SSDs coexist with a legacy 2.5 inch drive I want to keep?

The chassis only accommodates the two M.2 PCIe 4.0 x4 NVMe slots already populated, leaving no bay or connector for a 2.5 inch drive.

How do I confirm the RTX 5090 is running at its full 24 GB GDDR7 capacity after setup?

Open Windows Task Manager > Performance > GPU and verify Dedicated GPU Memory shows 24 GB; GPU-Z will also report GDDR7 and 24 GB video memory.
