15.6" 144Hz gaming laptop

The ASUS TUF Dash F15 FX517ZR is a 15.6 inch FHD gaming laptop with a 144Hz IPS-level display. It runs Windows 11 Home on an Intel Core i7-12650H processor with 10 cores and 16 threads. The system includes an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 graphics card with 8GB GDDR6 video memory. It is configured with 64GB of DDR5 4800MHz dual-channel memory and a 1TB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD.

Upgraded thermal paste and memory

HIDevolution applies Gelid GC Extreme thermal interface material on the CPU and GPU to lower system temperatures under load. The factory memory is replaced with 64GB (2 x 32GB) of DDR5 4800MHz modules installed in dual-channel mode. A 1TB PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD is installed for fast boot and load times. Each unit undergoes BIOS updates, burn-in stress testing, and full hardware inspection before shipping.

64GB DDR5 and 1TB NVMe headroom

The 64GB DDR5 4800MHz kit handles memory-intensive workloads and heavy multitasking with ample headroom. The 1TB PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD provides rapid storage access for large game libraries and project files. The RTX 3070 with 8GB GDDR6 drives the 15.6 inch 144Hz panel at high settings in modern titles. Demanding creative applications and future games may eventually exceed the 8GB video memory buffer.

Questions about this item

Will the 15.6 inch 144Hz display fit my existing laptop bag designed for a 15 inch device?

The chassis measures 13.94 by 9.88 by 0.78 to 0.81 inches so compare those dimensions to your bag's internal space before buying.

Does the 64GB DDR5 4800MHz memory run at its rated speed or is it limited by the processor?

The i7-12650H memory controller supports DDR5 4800MHz so the installed 2 x 32GB modules will operate at that speed in dual channel mode.

Is the 1TB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD the only drive bay or can I add a second drive later?

The specification lists a single 1TB M.2 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe SSD with no mention of an additional slot so assume one drive bay only.
