27" Fast IPS gaming display

The ASUS VG279QM5A is a 27-inch TUF Gaming monitor built around a Fast IPS panel with a 240Hz refresh rate. It targets competitive players who want fluid motion and consistent colour in fast-paced titles. The panel covers 99% of the sRGB gamut and delivers 16.7 million colours at a native 1920 x 1080 resolution. Wide 178° viewing angles keep the image stable from almost any position.

Thermals noise and power draw

The unit draws under 18W during normal operation, dropping below 0.5W in power-saving mode and below 0.3W when switched off. An internal 100-240V power supply handles the conversion without an external brick, so heat output stays modest on the desk. No fan is present, leaving the monitor silent in everyday use.

Stand connectivity and mounting

The stand offers tilt adjustment from +23° to -5° for comfortable viewing height. Video inputs comprise one DisplayPort 1.4 and two HDMI 2.0 ports, plus a headphone jack and integrated 2W stereo speakers. A 100 x 100mm VESA pattern allows wall or arm mounting when desk space is limited. The flat anti-glare screen reduces reflections in bright rooms.

Questions about this item

Will this monitor work with my AMD graphics card for variable refresh rate?

Yes, it supports FreeSync Premium so an AMD GPU can drive variable refresh rate up to 240Hz over DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.0.

Can I mount the screen on a VESA arm to save desk space?

The rear has 100 x 100mm VESA holes and the stand removes easily, so any standard arm or wall bracket will fit.

What cables do I need to reach the full 240Hz refresh rate?

Use the included DisplayPort 1.4 cable for 240Hz at 1080p; HDMI 2.0 also carries the signal but check your GPU port version.
