Compact 14-inch FHD laptop

The ASUS VivoBook 14 F412DA-NH77 combines a 14.0-inch Full HD IPS panel with a Ryzen 7 3700U quad-core processor. 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 512 GB NVMe PCIe 3.0 SSD handle everyday multitasking. Windows 10 Home 64-bit ships pre-installed with an optional Windows 11 Pro upgrade path. The 87% screen-to-body ratio suits students and mobile professionals who need a light, capable machine.

Build and daily connectivity

A slate-grey chassis houses an anti-glare display rated at 250 nits and 45% NTSC coverage. The Ergolift hinge raises the keyboard for a more comfortable typing angle. Ports include USB 3.2 Type-C, USB 3.2 Type-A, USB 2.0 and HDMI for external monitors. A backlit chiclet keyboard integrates a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello sign-in. Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) provides wireless connectivity.

Storage and memory limits

The 512 GB M.2 2280 NVMe drive occupies the single PCIe 3.0 x2 slot; a 2.5-inch SATA bay remains available for a second drive. System memory is configured as 4 GB soldered plus a 4 GB module, filling the only SO-DIMM slot with no free sockets for expansion. Integrated Radeon RX Vega 10 graphics share system memory, so heavy GPU workloads will be constrained by the 8 GB total. Buyers who want more storage or memory headroom should verify the open SATA bay meets their needs before purchase.

Questions about this item

What speed does the USB 3.2 Type C port cap at in practice?

The USB 3.2 Type C port supports up to 10 Gbps, so real-world throughput is limited by the connected device and cable quality.

What physical drive sizes and slots does this laptop accept for storage upgrades?

It has one M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x2 slot occupied by the 512 GB NVMe SSD, plus a standard 2.5-inch SATA bay for an additional hard drive or SSD.

How is the M.2 NVMe SSD installed, and what step do people often miss?

Remove the bottom cover, insert the M.2 2280 drive at an angle into the PCIe 3.0 x2 slot, secure it with the screw, then initialise the new volume in Windows Disk Management before use.
