What this laptop is and who it suits

The ASUS VivoBook 15 F512DA-DB34 is a 15.6 inch Full HD notebook powered by an AMD Ryzen 3 3200U dual-core processor with 8 GB of DDR4 memory and a 128 GB M.2 SATA3 SSD. It runs Windows 10 S 64-bit and uses integrated AMD Radeon Vega 3 graphics. The 88 percent screen-to-body ratio and anti-glare 250 nits panel suit students and office workers who need a thin, light machine for everyday productivity and web browsing.

Thermals noise and power in normal use

The ErgoLift hinge tilts the keyboard for better airflow beneath the chassis while typing. The low-power Ryzen 3 3200U and shared-memory Vega 3 GPU keep heat output modest during document editing, streaming and light multitasking. Fan noise stays unobtrusive in typical indoor environments. The 128 GB SSD has no moving parts, so it adds no acoustic or thermal load.

Build integration and expandability

One USB 3.1 Type-A Gen 1 port, one USB 3.1 Type-C Gen 1 port, one USB 2.0 port and an HDMI output handle peripherals and external displays. Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 4.1 cover wireless needs. The 348 mm illuminated chiclet keyboard includes a fingerprint reader for Windows Hello sign-in. Memory tops out at 12 GB with 4 GB soldered and one SO-DIMM slot. Buyers who want more storage or discrete graphics will need a different chassis.

Questions about this item

How do I add more storage to the M.2 SATA3 slot, and which screw size do people lose?

The laptop has a 128 GB M.2 SATA3 SSD installed; a second M.2 SATA3 drive can be added after removing the bottom cover, using the single small retaining screw that secures the existing drive.

When will the 8 GB DDR4 memory need an upgrade, and what is the ceiling?

The system ships with 4 GB soldered plus a 4 GB DDR4 module; maximum supported memory is 12 GB, so only one 8 GB stick can be added later.

At what point does the 250-nit anti-glare screen become hard to read in bright light?

The 15.6-inch FHD panel reaches 250 nits with 45 % NTSC coverage, so visibility drops noticeably under direct sunlight or strong indoor glare.
